Put on sick list, 11 March 1823, Cork. Discharged, 7 July 1823. Claimed to have received a severe beating from the jailer at Cork some months previously, since when he had been ill. The symptoms were aggravated on his arrival on the Recovery and the vomiting and some other symptoms became worse on putting to sea. He also suffered convulsive paroxysms. He remained in a debilitated state a long time, 118 days in the sick list.
