Description

Folio 19: 10 June 1823, punished L Carrol and J Murray for destroying a [cap] and J Finlay on strong suspicion of stealing, all handcuffed and confined on bread and water, afterwards L Carrol and J Finlay double ironed for outrageous conduct.

Folio 19: 11 June 1823, punished P Moyley for having dirty clothes and P Sherry for disobedience, to clean the main deck for 8 days. Issued a new shirt to each convict.

Folio 19: 12 June 1823, numbered all the shirts issued yesterday. Punished J Dougan for insolence to the Chief Mate, confined on bread and water for 24 hours and to clean the deck for 14 days.

Folio 19: P McGonegal, Convict; disease or hurt, pneumonia. Put on sick list, 12 June 1823. Discharged, 20 June 1823.

Folio 19: 13 June 1823, punished J Davis for disobedience and C Philips for losing a cap, both to clean the deck for 8 days. At sunset the convicts mustered and their stockings inspected, 3 pairs were found to be missing.

Folio 19: 14 June 1823, punished D Call for selling his stockings, confined for 24 hours on bread and water and to clean the privy for 14 days, J Jones and E Lanagan for losing their stockings and P Walker for disobedience, to clean the deck for 8 days.

Folio 19: 15 June 1823, read prayers to the convicts below, 'all of them mustering clean'.

Folio 20: 16 June 1823, beds kept below from bad weather.

Folio 20: J Finlay, Convict; disease or hurt, dysentery. Put on sick list, 16 June 1823. Discharged, 12 July 1823.

Folio 20: 17 June 1823, punished C Brennan for losing his cap, to clean the main deck for 8 days.

Folio 20: 18 June 1823, stored the beds below, the weather being unsettled. Punished B McDermot for insolence to the Captain of the Deck, to clean the main deck for 8 days.

Folio 20: 19 June 1823, strong westerly gales throughout the day with occasional showers. At noon shipped a sea in the lower deck which was quickly baled out and dried, tarpaulins were put over the hatchways.

Folio 20: T Ryan, Passenger; disease or hurt, jaundice. Put on sick list, 19 June 1823. Discharged, 3 July 1823.

Folio 20: 20 June 1823, punished D Dougan for leaving a brush on deck, and T Tallant for insolence to the Captain of the Deck, to clean the main deck for 8 days, and J Stewart for losing a shirt, to clean the privy and fill the cistern for 14 days.

Folio 20: 21 June 1823, all convicts shaved, their hair cut and heads washed. Punished G Murray, D Dignum, D Flinn and J Fitzgerald for various offences, to clean the main deck for 14 days.

Folio 21: 22 June 1823, daily routine, at 11 brought all the convicts on the quarter deck and read a sermon from Blair.

Folio 21: 23 June 1823, punished G Brennan for going aloft, to clean the main deck for 8 days, and G Baker for disobeying a sentry, [to clean the main deck] for 14 days.

Folio 21: 24 June 1823, punished J Mahon for bad language to the carpenter, confined on bread and water for 24 hours and to clean the deck for 14 days. At 3pm St Pauls [Ile Saint-Paul] sighted at 15 miles distance.

Folio 21: T Sranan [Shernan], Convict; disease or hurt, catarrh. Put on sick list, 24 June 1823. Discharged, 13 July 1823.

Folio 21: J Nixon, Soldier; disease or hurt, catarrh. Put on sick list, 24 June 1823. Discharged, 9 July 1823.

Folio 21: 25 June 1823, released from irons J Finlay and L Carrol formerly double ironed for bad conduct.

Folio 21: 26 June 1823, punished E Quin for lying in the stay sail netting, to clean the main deck for 8 days.

Folio 21: 27 June 1823, punished W Cashy for insolence and insubordination, confined on bread and water.

Folio 22: 28 June 1823, barbers busy shaving, all washed clothes inspected and ordered to be mended.

Folio 22: 29 June 1823, mustered all the clothes to see all were clean and that each had his complement. At 11 read a sermon from Blair. Punished P Murphy for speaking to a boy, to clean the privy for 10 days.

Folio 22: P Murphy, Convict; disease or hurt, dysentery. Put on sick list, 29 June 1823. Discharged, [no date recorded].

Folio 22: 30 June 1823, strong southerly winds with squalls of rain and sleet, beds sent below at 11am.

Folio 22: 1 July 1823, punished J Classon, D Flinn and E Quin for going in to the fore chains, to clean the deck for 8 days.

Folio 22: 2 July 1823, punished W Armstrong for losing a shirt, confined on bread and water and to clean the deck for 10 days.

Folio 22: T Foley, Convict; disease or hurt, dysentery. Put on sick list, 2 July 1823. Discharged, 13 July 1823.

Folio 22: 3 July 1823, beds kept below from rainy weather. Punished P Moyley for towing trousers overboard, and P McDade for insolence to the Captain of the Deck, both to clean the main deck for 8 days. Several seas shipped in the lower deck, put over gratings and tarpaulins.

Folio 23: 4 July 1823, fair wind and fine weather throughout the day.

Folio 23: 5 July 1823, 'at daylight washed the main deck as usual with blacklist men'.

Folio 23: 6 July 1823, at 11 read a sermon from Blair. Light winds from NNE with fine weather throughout the day.

Folio 23: 8 July 1823, punished P Dinning for taking biscuit, to clean the privy for 14 days.

Folio 23: J Hanratty, Convict; disease or hurt, catarrh. Put on sick list, 8 July 1823. Discharged, 28 July 1823.

Folio 23: M Carrol, Convict; disease or hurt, dysentery. Put on sick list, 8 July 1823. Discharged, 18 July 1823.

Folio 23: 9 July 1823, at 1am D Ivors, the child of Corporal Ivors, died and was committed to the deep with the burial service at 1pm.
