Folio 5: 23 March 1823, inspected all prisoners and found them shaved and washed with clean clothes on.

Folio 5: J [or T] Mahon, Convict; disease or hurt, diarrhoea. Put on sick list, 23 March 1823. Discharged, 28 March 1823.

Folio 5: J Dogherty, Convict; disease or hurt, catarrh. Put on sick list, 23 March 1823. Discharged, 8 April 1823.

Folio 5: W Blackstock, Soldier; disease or hurt, pneumonia. Put on sick list, 23 March 1823. Discharged, 1 April 1823.

Folio 6: 24 March 1823, J Stewart confined for insolence. Dr Trevor brought orders to proceed to sea.

Folio 6: 25 March 1823, received 2 pints of vinegar for the sick, rainy all day, at anchor in Cove Harbour.

Folio 6: Mrs Carruthers, Sergeant's Wife; disease or hurt, 'complex case'. Put on sick list, 27 March 1823. Discharged, 19 April 1823.

Folio 6: 28 March 1823, P Sherry handcuffed for [towing] trousers overboard. Examined all [the] King's clothes and found [different] several handkerchiefs and combs. All day at anchor in Cove Harbour.

Folio 6: 29 March 1823, 'the only thefts have been petty ones of tobacco but to stop this all the pipes have been taken from those who possessed no tobacco.' Fair weather, at anchor in Cove Harbour.

Folio 7: 1 April 1823, E Irwin confined on bread and water for 24 hours for selling his stockings and being dirty. At anchor in Cove Harbour.

Folio 7: A Boylan, Convict; disease or hurt, rheumatism. Put on sick list, 1 April 1823. Discharged, 16 May 1823.

Folio 7: 2 April 1823, G Murray and L Carrol handcuffed for making a noise below [decks], D Dougan confined for towing his clothes overboard and P Haden confined for insolence to the Captain of the Deck.

Folio 7: J Maginnis, Soldier; disease or hurt, syphilis and [scrophula]. Put on sick list, 2 April 1823. Discharged, 16 May 1823.

Folio 7: J Kelly, Convict; disease or hurt, rheumatism. Put on sick list, 2 April 1823. Discharged, 2 May 1823.

Folio 7: 3 April 1823, L Mooney and J McCormick handcuffed on strong suspicion of throwing stones in the dark, J Walker handcuffed for talking after 8pm, and J Murphy confined on bread and water for 24 hours for insolence to Captain of the Deck. Released 12 convicts from double to single irons and 58 ordered to have no dinner for not washing clothes.

Folio 7: 4 April 1823, W O Byrne confined for 24 hours on bread and water and handcuffed W Fitzgerald for losing trousers overboard and P Haden for insolence to the Captain of the Deck. 3 convicts released form irons and all sick released form double to single irons.

Folio 8: 5 April 1823, 'at 3pm got under weigh and stood out to sea on our voyage'.

Folio 8: 6 April 1823, convicts very sea sick, so could only get about 60 beds on deck, 19 convicts released from irons and 2 others single ironed.

Folio 8: 7 April 1823, released from irons 12 convict boys and single ironed 21 men. The ship pitching a great deal and many of the convicts and guard sea sick.

Folio 8: W [or J] Leggat, Convict; disease or hurt, pneumonia. Put on sick list, 7 April 1823. Discharged, 20 April 1823.

Folio 8: 8 April 1823, released from irons 2 convicts and single ironed 3 others. At sunset mustered the convicts down with shoes and stockings off and locked prison.

Folio 8: 9 April 1823, released from double to single irons 27 convicts. Confined for 24 hours on bread and water, W Cashy for disobedience, J Carroll and J Quinn for towing clothes overboard. Lashed for three hours in the rigging, J McGeogh for disobedience, J Murphy for putting a swab in the necessary and W Graham for insolence.

Folio 8: 10 April 1823, beds lashed up on deck at 6am but sent below at 10am because of bad weather, ship rolling heavily and many sea sick.

Folio 9: 11 April 1823, released from irons 14 convicts and single ironed 13 others.

Folio 9: 12 April 1823, released from irons 17 convicts and single ironed 6 others.

Folio 9: 13 April 1823, at 11am read prayers to the convict son the quarter deck with the guard under arms on the poop deck. At 4pm passed Madeira. T Canty handcuffed and D Neale and D McCarthy confined on bread and water for 36 hours for quarrelling with and disobeying a Captain of the Deck.

Folio 9: 14 April 1823, the convicts formed into schools according to their education. J Connor and J Coulan confined on bread and water for fighting and J Graham for striking C Donovan. Released from irons 27 convicts and single ironed 3.

Folio 9: 15 April 1823, school books, writing paper, pens and ink, slates and pencils issued to the schools. Convicts are arranged in 5 classes, according to ability, with a 'schooler' to each. Issued wine, about 1 gill to each convict and double to about 20 who were employed usefully.

Folio 9: 16 April 1823, J Fitzgerald confined on bread and water for insolence to the Captain of the Deck. Schoolmasters employed teaching 1 ½ hours forenoon and afternoon.

Folio 10: 17 April 1823, received 5 bread bags for trousers. Released 44 convicts from irons, 36 remain in single irons and 6 in double irons. Schoolmasters teaching 2 hours as usual.

Folio 10: 18 April 1823, P Haden confined for 24 hours on bread and water for disobedience. Schoolmasters teaching 2 to 3 hours as usual.

Folio 10: 19 April 1823, released 37 convicts from irons, all now out of irons.

Folio 10: Sunday, 20 April 1823, all convicts ordered to lay aside their jackets, shoes and stockings and to eat their meals on deck while the weather remains warm. At noon lashed up till evening J Hughes, J Darby and T Tallant for disobedience. St Anthony, Cape Verde Islands in sight.
