Folios 231B-231C. Letter from [Captain Charles] Craufurd at Dorchester [Dorset] acknowledging his error in allowing his regiment [2nd Dragoon Guards (The Queen's Bays)] to burn Paine in effigy outside Bridport and at Trowbridge and Bradford-on-Avon [Wiltshire], accepting the requirement to maintain a sense of 'moderation and tranquillity amongst the troops' until they saw active service, but giving an extended explanation of the need to raise the morale of a regiment that had recently been restored from a state of extreme indiscipline.
