Folios 131B-131G. Letter from John Somerville of Grafton Street, Soho [Westminster], aged 73 and almost blind, stating that he had learnt that the king's 2nd presentation to the Charterhouse was still at his disposal. Enclosed is a letter of 3 July 1792 to Lord Hood from Scrope Bernard [former under-secretary] stating that the vacancy in Mr Pitt's gift had been filled. Also enclosed is a memorandum of 22 June 1792 to Hood from Bernard stating that no vacancy in the home secretary's gift had arisen since his application on behalf of Somerville.
