Folios 185-188. Letter from Michael Alexander Gage, Land Surveyor, to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing a prospectus of his 'Trigonometrical Plan of the Town and Port of Liverpool', including Kirkdale, Everton, Low-Hill and Toxteth-Park. He refers to the praise received for his work. He asks for 'the additional distinction of your patronage'. Enclosed is the prospectus 'Under Sanction and Patronage' of: the King, the late Duke of Sutherland, Earl of Balcarres, Lord Brougham and Vaux, Viscount Sandon MP, Robert Peel MP, the late William Huskisson MP, late Joseph Birch, the Hydrographic Office, Admiralty; William Ewert MP, William Yates Peel MP, General Gascoyne, Herbert Taylor and Olinthus Gregory, Professor of Mathematics in the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. Testimonials for the plan are included: Olinthus Gregory and Captain Henry Mangles Denham. Also from the Liverpool Courier, Liverpool Mercury, Liverpool Standard, Liverpool Chronicle and the Albion, Paper Number: 2588/A/1837. Poor Law Union Number 220. Counties: Lancashire.
