Folios 145-150. Letter from John Mackinlay, Secretary to the Liverpool Select Vestry, to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing a copy of the report and summary accounts submitted to the parishioners. He understood from 4& 5 William IV, c 76, s 86, that all advertisements for contracts for the parish were exempt from stamp duty when inserted in newspapers. The newspapers have told him that the Stamp Office have charged for the advertisements. He asks the Commission for their advice. Enclosed is a report of the select vestry for the period 25 March to 25 September last. The accounts of John A Tinne and George H Lawrence, Churchwardens are included, showing expenditure for indoor and outdoor poor, etc. are given, and signed off by W Dickson, Treasurer. Heads of expenditure are Amount Received, Workhouse Out-Poor, Illegitimates' Office, County Rates, General Expenditure and Churches. Audited by [Edward Franceys], Robert Jones and Samuel Martin. Poor Law Union Number 220. Counties: Lancashire.
