Description
Content
Folio 247. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to R M Hodge [Richard Michell Hodge], Clerk to the Guardians of the Truro Poor Law Union, stating that the Commissioner's consider that there are no grounds for charging the relief of Mary Michell to the parish of Kea; she had not settled there, she was not residing there nor can she be a casual pauper thereof. The Commission's opinion is that her relief is chargeable to the parish of St Mary as being the parish in which, when destitute, she applied for and obtained relief from but, if her husband is able to maintain her, the Truro Union guardians would not be justified in supporting her at the expense of the poor rates. Paper Number: 2597/A/1844. Poor Law Union Number 57. Counties: Cornwall.
