Description
Content
Folios 243-244. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to R M Hodge [Richard Michell Hodge], Clerk to the Guardians of the Truro Poor Law Union, relating to the particulars of the union's medical officers' appointments informing that as areas of the St Agnes and Probus districts exceed the limit a copy of a special minute setting forth the grounds on which the medical officers' districts have been arranged is required. As the medical officers for the St Just (1), St Mary and St Just (2) do not possess the required qualifications a special minute is required. As the amount of the salaries for some districts compared to the population of some districts appear unequal the Commission is to be informed of the principles upon which the have been arranged. It is recommended that, to avoid two districts having the same name, St Just (2) should be renamed. Paper Number: 2397/A/1844. Poor Law Union Number 57. Counties: Cornwall.
