The Services Department of the Ministry of Food came into being at the time of the general re-organisation in January 1947 and comprised four groups and a secretariat. The Public Relations Group was responsible for transmitting to the public information necessary for the day to day operation of food control and for giving advice on the best use of the available food supplies. All the usual publicity media were employed to maintain contact with the public.
