Folios 337-341. Letter from James L Barker, Clerk to the Guardians of the Tynemouth Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, responding to the letter of 27 December 1838, concerning the sale of waste land in Tynemouth parish. It answers questions posed by the Commission and asks for further directions. Enclosed: a map of part of the village of Tynemouth, showing the waste land. Enclosed: a parish property form 'Declaration of Possessory Title', dated 5 June 1839. It names William Scott, aged 64, Labourer, who has lived in Tynemouth all his life. He states that the wasteland adjoins the property of [Henry Metcalf] and that for the last 64 years it has been in the possession of the vicar, churchwardens and overseers of the poor of Tynemouth. It is witnessed by John Tinley. Enclosed: Paper A names Sir Mark Milbank in the section on title deeds. Trustees are named as Reverend Christopher Reed, Vicar. [Richard Ten----, Churchwarden]. Robert Peart, Churchwarden. William Wheatley, Churchwarden. William Hope, Churchwarden. Selby Thompson, Overseer. James Watson, Overseer. [Mr Hall, Overseer]. The document is signed by John Tinley.
