Folios 292-295. Letter from James L Barker, Clerk to the Guardians of the Tynemouth Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, asking consent to sell waste land in Tynemouth. Official forms for the sale of parish property are included. Sale of Parish Property Form 1, dated 28 August 1838, is from the parish churchwardens, overseers and inhabitants. The land is at the south entrance of the village of Tynemouth and bordering on the Turnpike Road to the east and on the west by land and premises lately belonging to [Henry Mitcalfe]. The unoccupied land is to be attached to the workhouse as a lunatic asylum. It is signed by [William Wheatley, Churchwarden]. [Richard -----, Churchwarden]. John Robinson, Overseer. Mr Collinson, Overseer. W J Taylor, [Robert -----], Richard Ewart, [------ Chapman Watson, George Selby Thompson, William Reid, William Bell, and [Joseph ------, all inhabitants. Sale of Parish Property Form 2, dated 20 December 1838, is from the guardians, describes the land and requests consent to sell the land.
