Folios 281-282. Letter from R Barker [Richard Barker] and James L Barker, Clerks to the Guardians of the Tynemouth Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, concerning the permanent appointment of Mr and Mrs Carr [Thomas Carr and Mary Carr] as Workhouse Master and Workhouse Matron. The appointment was on a trial basis and the permanent position has been approved by the guardians at a meeting, at which Sir John Walsham [Assistant Poor Law Commissioner], was present. An extract from the minutes of the Tynemouth Poor Law Union, on 25 October 1838, to this effect is enclosed. Annotated: appointment confirmed. [Paper number: 7767/B/1838]. Poor Law Union Number 333. Counties: Northumberland.
