Folios 269-270. Letter from R Barker [Richard Barker] and James L Barker, Clerks to the Guardians of the Tynemouth Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, concerning the valuation of houses in Newsham and South Blyth township. It states that at the meeting on 13 September 1838 the guardians appointed William Beall, North Shields, Builder and Jackson Smith, North Shields, Joiner and Cabinet Maker to value the houses. It proposes to remunerate them at the rate of £3 3s a day to include travelling and other expenses and that it will take five days to complete the work. It asks the Commission to confirm these arrangements. Annotated; enquire whether each of the valuers is to be paid at the rate of £3 3s per day. Paper number: 6822/B/1838. Poor Law Union Number 333. Counties: Northumberland.
