- Folio 268. Letter from R Barker [Richard Barker] and James L Barker, Clerks to the Guardians of the Tynemouth Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, acknowledging the letter of 23 August 1838 concerning the appointment of valuers for the township of Newsham and South Blyth. Holdroyd [John Holdroyd] and Brown [Isaac Brown] are to value the lands and farms and they will be paid at £3 3s per day to include travelling and other expenses. It is expected that they will take four days to complete the valuation. The people proposed to value the houses have declined to do so and the board will appoint others at the next meeting.
