Folio 217. Draft letter from Edwin Chadwick, Secretary to the Poor Law Commission, to Joseph Lowndes, Clerk to the Wolstanton and Burslem Poor Law Union, enclosing an order authorising the hiring of certain premises at Burslem for the purpose of a board room for the guardians [not included]. The letter also enclosed a 'Form of Application' to the Exchequer and Loans Commission for an advance of the sum required for the above purpose, and requesting that it be signed by the guardians and returned to the Commission, who will signify their consent before sending it to the Exchequer Bill Loan Board [not included]. Annotated: order dated 24 February. Paper number: 1828/B/1846. Poor Law Union Number 415. Counties: Staffordshire.
