Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Joseph Lowndes, Clerk to the Guardians of the Wolstanton and Burslem Poor Law Union, acknowledging receipt of his letter of 17 January 1846, relating to lunatic pauper Susan Lycett. Under the provisions of 4& 5 Wm 4 c 76 s 45, no dangerous lunatic, insane person or idiot may be detained in a workhouse for more than fourteen days. Lycett may be placed in an asylum or licensed house in an adjoining county. Paper number: 865/B/1846. Poor Law Union Number 415. Counties: Staffordshire.
