Folio 186. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Joseph Lowndes, Clerk to the Guardians of the Wolstanton and Burslem Poor Law Union, acknowledging receipt of his letter of 5 December 1845, with which were enclosed a notice of a Burslem parish meeting, a resolution passed consenting to the letting of the workhouse and parish premises, and a certificate of verification. From the lease submitted with Lowndes' letter of 3 November 1845, it appears that the premises were leased to the guardians by Ralph Sneyd on 29 September 1841. The guardians' attention is drawn to an enclosed copy of a communication [not included] which they sent to J P Harding, Solicitor, Burslem, in December 1841, relating to Sneyd's interest in the property. The Commission wish to see the lease. Draft is initialled W G L [William Golden Lumley, Assistant Secretary to the Poor Law Commision]. Paper number: 15696/B/1845. Poor Law Union Number 415. Counties: Staffordshire.
