Letter from Joseph Lowndes, Clerk to the Guardians of the Wolstanton and Burslem Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing the 'Statement of Pauperism' caused by accidents in mines during the two years ended 29 September 1845. Enclosure - A Statement of the 'Pauperism caused by Accidents happening in Mines' to the following people who became chargeable to parishes in Wolstanton during the two years ended 29 September 1845: Edward Rogers, John Gibson, John Hargreaves, Joseph Wooliscroft, William Lockett, William Rushton, William Procter, Daniel Lightfoot, Francis, Clewlow, James Lightfoot, Edward Jones, George Kinsey, Ralph Hollinshead, Charles Hollinshead, William Ouseley, William Leigh, James Baskeyfield, William Ball, James Holdcroft, Thomas Smith, William Hewitt. Details are given of the type of mine, nature of accident, whether or not they survived, marital status, numbers of people dependent on them, period of chargeability and total cost of relief.
