Folio 167. Letter from Joseph Lowndes, Clerk to the Guardians of the Wolstanton and Burslem Poor Law Union, stating that the guardians have resolved to let the old Burslem Workhouse, currently occupied by troops and also used as parish offices, to the Board of Ordnance as barracks for 10 years at £75 per annum, determinable after 10 years upon six months notice. A draft lease is enclosed [not included] prior to submission to the Board of Ordnance's solicitor. Agreement of a schedule mentioned will need to be settled between the Guardians and the Officers of the Engineering Department. Annotation: the proper order must be issued. A letting meeting order must be sent. Signed W G L [William Goolden Lumley, Assistant secretary to the Poor Law Commission]. Paper number: 14272/B/1845. Poor Law Union Number 415.
