- Folio 474. Letter from Henry W Parker, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner to the Poor Law Commission, reporting on his conference with the Board of Guardians of the Rye Poor Law Union held the previous day. When Parker informed the board that the Commission was of the opinion that the workhouse accommodation could be legally extended, it resolved to appoint a committee to select a suitable site for a central workhouse. The board also resolved to appoint a task master to superintend the labour of able-bodied paupers for whom workhouse accommodation cannot be provided. Paper number: 13725/B/1842. Poor Law Union Number 484. Counties: Sussex and Kent.
