Work for the improvement of livestock and milk standards has been enforced by a number of acts and orders. The most important acts under which these measures were authorised are as follows:-The Development and Road Improvement Funds Act, 1909, The Maintenance of Live Stock Act, 1915, The Horse Breeding Act, 1918, The Livestock Industry Act, 1937, The Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1899, The Milk and Dairies (Consolidation) Act, 1915, The Milk Act, 1934, and The Milk Industry Act, 1939.
