Administrative / biographical background

A Sea Fish Commission was established on 20 December 1933 under the Sea Fishing Industry Act of that year, to enquire into the functioning of the sea fish industry and to recommend what steps should be taken to reorganise any branch of it. The commission made two reports; the first, in 1934, on the herring industry and the second, in 1936, on the white fish industry. It was abolished by the Sea Fish Industry Act 1938.
