Folios 485-486. Letter [to Evan Nepean, under-secretary] from George Parker of 63 John Street, Blackfriars Road [Southwark], now recovered but whose wife was ill as a result of her reception by Mrs Nepean, wondering what he had done for them to deserve such treatment, and seeking an audience. Parker insists that he had done his best as a secret service agent with accounts of the duke of Orleans and Colonel [Francisco] Miranda, and could only conclude that Nepean's opinion of him had been ruined by others. Because of Home Office strictures he had been unable to secure work anywhere despite his many testimonials.
