Folios 413-414. Letter from Lord Auckland at The Hague stating that he hoped to cross to Harwich at the end of the following week when he would report on the prevailing crisis. He had not received an answer from the Dutch East India Company to the questions regarding the Cape of Good Hope, but the confidential opinion of the Grand Pensionary [Laurens Pieter van de Spiegel] was to act in the best interests of the 2 companies and the safety of the Cape.
