Description

Folio 33: case no 32; James Coe, aged 29, convict, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, continued fever; put on sick list 1 January 1828, discharged 13 January 1828 from list.

Folios 33-37: case no 33; John Gooch, aged 36, convict, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, continued fever [there is no dissection report in consequence of the surgeon's sick, see case no 34]; put on sick list 12 January 1828, died 26 January 1828.

Folio 37: case no 34, observation, I have a great desire to open the body [case no 33] but was prevented from doing so by being afflicted with an attack of fever, which commenced on the night of the 18th inst. [January], I attributed my attack to the exposure in the sun at the Cape of Good Hope where we put in to obtain a supply of medicines and fresh provisions.
