Folios 7-9: case no 1, Mary Murphy, aged 40, convict; sick or hurt, dyspepsia, suffered severely from sea sickness and now that she has recovered, her stomach remained in a very debilitated condition, occasional vomiting particularly after breakfast; put on sick list 13 April 1849, discharged 28 July 1849 to Anson convict hulk, still weak and emaciated, but greatly improved since arrival at Hobart town.
Folios 9-10: case no 2, Honora Hegarty, aged 40, convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, pleuritis, was attacked with acute pain in the left side of the thorax, accompanied with dyspneoa, breathing extremely anxious and short, pain much increased on taking a deep inspiration, cough; put on sick list 13 April 1849, discharged 21 May 1849 quite well.
Folios 11-13: case no 3, Johanna Kelleher, aged 15, convict's daughter; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, phthisis pulmonalis, exceedingly delicate and had not menstruated, chronic in appearance, appetite good, bowels constipated; put on sick list 14 April 1849, died 13 June 1849 at 5.30 am.
Folios 13-14: case no 4, Mary Donnelly, aged 38, convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, menorrhagia, had an appearance of a 50 years of age, and delicate habit of body subjected to menorrhagia for the last 3 years, she was put on sick list on 14 April and discharged well on 1 May 1849, she again was put into the list for dysenteria on 19 May 1849 and sent 24 July 1849 to the Colonial Hospital at Van Diemens Land.
Folios 15: case no 5, Mary A Porter, aged 20, convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, dyspepsia, was suffer severely from sea sickness, at present complained of constant pain in the epigastrium with occasional vomiting, bowels irregular generally constipated; put on sick list 14 April 1849, discharged 16 July 1849 well.
Folio 16: case no 6, Ellen McCarthy, aged 22, convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, pleuritis, suddenly seized with severe pain of right side of thorax, increased on inspiration, short dry cough and great anxiety; put on sick list 15 April 1849, discharged 29 April 1849 well.
Folios 16-17: case no 7, Maria Dunn or Mary Holmes, aged 36, convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, dyspepsia; put on sick list 16 April 1849, discharged 28 July 1849.
Folio 17: case no 8, Anne Little, aged 25, convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, prolapsus uteri, complained of severe pain in the hypogastrium resembling labour pains; put on sick list 21 April 1849, discharged 1 May 1849.
Folio 18: case no 9, Johanna Lyhane, aged 22, convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, pleurodynia, acute pain in the left side of thorax, increased on taking inspiration; put on sick list 2 May 1849, discharged 18 July 1849 quite well.
Folios 19-20: case no 10, Margaret Foley, aged 26, convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, phthisis pulmonalis, exceedingly emaciated and at night much troubled with cough, says that she was subject to cough for the last 3 years, very little pain in the chest, expectorates freely, appetite for food very capricious; put on sick list 2 May 1849, died 23 May 1849 at 5 am. at sea.
Folios 20-21: case no 11, Mary Connolly, aged 27, convict; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, colica, suddenly seized with severe abdominal pain, obstinate constipation, bowels not moved for the last 6 days; put on sick list 10 May 1849, discharged 18 May 1849.
Folio 21: case no 12, Mary Mulhern, aged 23; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, pleuritis, seized with severe pain of right side of the thorax, greatly increased at each inspiration, countenance flushed; put on sick list 23 May 1849, discharged 21 May 1849.
Folios 21-22: case no 13, Cathe. Reilly, aged 20; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, palpitation cordis, suffered from sea sickness severely, menstruates irregularly, had occasionally very severe pain in the region of the heart which palpitated violently on slightest exertion; put on sick list 20 May 1849, discharged 6 June 1849.
Folios 22-23: case no 14, Catherine McDonald, aged 40; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, fistula in ano, complained of pain of the abdomen, bowels loose passed a considerable quantity of blood, occasional severe griping; put on sick list 20 May 1849, discharged 2 July 1849.
Folios 23-24: case no 15, Mary Hughes, aged 19; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, vulnus et concussio cerebri, was struck over the summit of the head with a wooden bowl. A small contused wound with considerable surrounding puffiness was observed, no puncture of the cranium, about an hour after the injury she became insensible, violent throbbing of the temporal arteries and limbs rigid, pupil dilated; put on sick list 10 June 1849, discharged 22 July 1849.
Folios 24-26: case no 16, Ellen Gallavan, aged 24; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, dysenteria, was attacked with violent colic, obstinate constipation, pain about the navel, had vomited twice, countenance anxiety; put on sick list 24 June 1849, sent 24 July 1849 to Hospital at Hobart Town.
Folios 26-28: case no 17, Maria Rutlege, aged 36; taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, dysenteria, parturitio with rupture of the perineum, complained of obstinate constipation, she was expect her confinement to take placed in about a fortnight. She was delivered of a male child on the 8 July at 9 pm. The child died on 18 July at 1 pm; put on sick list 24 June 1849, sent 24 July 1849 to Hospital at Hobart Town.

Folios 29-33: Surgeon's general remarks. On 22 March 1849 examined at the Grange Gorman Penitentiary, Dublin, 226 women, 56 children and 2 free settlers, many of the children unfit for embarkation, some labouring under measles or the debility consequent on that disease, others having a contagious diseases of the head (porrigo). On the 30 March 1849, 83 female convicts and their 15 children and on 2 April [1849] 83 female convicts and their 20 children with 2 free settlers and their 2 children were embarked. The women and children with but a few exceptions appeared to be in good health and cheerful. The Matron (Mrs Grogon) embarked with the first party of convicts on the 30th March with her husband and 3 children followed on the 2nd of April, with Mr Hart his wife and 6 daughters who were accommodated with difficulty, in a portion of the cabin partitioned off from the part, in which the Master, the surgeon and 2 cabin passengers (Mr and Mrs Mathison) were located. The surgeon stated that this arrangement proved exceedingly inconvenient to every party, because Mr Hart was a disagreeable man endeavouring by every means in his power (but without success) to excite an ill feeling between the Master and the surgeon. The surgeon also mentions the case of Johanna Kelleher [case no 3], and the case of parturition with rupture of perineum [case no 17], and finally the case of (Margaret Foley) who died of phthisis pulmonalis.
