Letter from S C Hawkes, Clavering, [Essex], to the Poor Law Commission,wishing to be informed about the twelth article of the 'general order and instructional' of the 12 March 1842 relative to attendance in midwifery cases. Who is legally qualified to give orders? Hawkes has attended several poor women on the order of the overseers, and on making a claim to the Board they tell him to claim fees from the overseers. Paper number: 12109/A/1844. Poor Law Union number 167. Counties: Hertfordshire and Essex.
