Folio 15: Surgeon's general remarks. There was no occurrence worthy of note from a medical point of view, the prisoners were generally healthy. It was a quick passage in pleasant weather. The only case worth mentioning is James Johnson, haemoptysis terminating in phthisis. He was one of the Fancy had fought many battles and ruined his constitution. He only survived three days at the hospital in Sydney. Sulphate of quinine was very useful in checking paroxysms of intermittent fever, though they did recur from changes in the weather. There were usually two or three on the list, slight accidents to bowel complaints etc. All too slight to mention. Signed, Alick Osborne Surgeon
