1 collective petition (25 people, from Westminster, London (addresses given)) on behalf of Robert Fear, convicted at the Old Bailey September Sessions in 1825, of stealing from his employer, William Struthers. There is also a certificate from George Pearce, surgeon, who treated prisoner for his injuries in 1822 and 1824 and confirms prisoner's injuries. Grounds for clemency: worked for his employer for 17 years and always conducted himself in an upright and becoming manner; previous good character - good father and affectionate husband; wife and child dependent on him; in December 1822 and August 1824 sustained several injuries - broke his leg and injured his body and is now unable to undergo laborious work which by transportation he would be subject to; led astray and duped by others; first offence. Initial sentence: 14 years transportation. Annotated: nil. EL19
