1 individual petition ([first name illegible] Rose) on behalf of William Harris, 19 years, convicted at the Wiltshire Summer Assizes in July 1826, for larceny - stealing tools, value 2/6. There is also a letter from Robert Kellock, governor of Captivity hulk in Devonport to convict's father stating he cannot intervene on behalf of his son, but if he applies to the Secretary of State and if he refers to him he may be able to write a favourable report on behalf of convict dated 2 October 1829. Gaoler's report: convicted of felony before. Grounds for clemency: has been imprisoned on Captivity hulk for more that 6 years, his mother is a very respectable and now aged woman and he stole some tools from work which were of little value. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: free pardon - August 1832. GR 32
