1 individual petition (William Garner, convict's father and undersigned by 104 people, from Leicester (trades given)) on behalf of William Garner, 30 years, convicted at the Leicester Summer Assizes in August 1832, for receiving stolen goods at Loughborough - some beans, stolen from a Corn Warehouse, property of John Smith of Loughborough.
Grounds for clemency: previous good character, first offence, was misled, has earned his own living, supports his widowed sister and her family, is 1 of 7 children and none of the others have committed any offence and family is in distress. Initial sentence: 14 years transportation, held in Millbank Penitentiary. Annotated: 'ordered to penitentiary' and 'sentence reduced to 7 years - 17 March 1834'. GR 25
