The Marquis of Hastings convict ship sailed from Woolwich on 6 March 1839 having embarked on the 4 March 1839, 100 prisoners at that place and proceeded from there to Portsmouth to receive 140 more, making a total of 240 male prisoners, and at the period of their embarkation they appeared generally in tolerable state of health.
