Folio 8: thirty four cases of 'catarrh' occurred during the voyage, but of a milder character and of shorter duration, they were occasioned by obstructed perspiration and in every instance I considered it prudent to see that the patients wore a flannel shirt in order to protect the lungs and prevent an attack of pneumonia, it also necessary to admit them into hospital and in addition to the medical treatment, to give them the benefits of medical comforts.
