Description

Protest of Mayo Grand Jury against Wood's halfpence. Incredulous that William Wood was allowed to give evidence against the Irish House of Commons. Attests that Irish manufacturers are unfamiliar with the practice of using tallies as currency [in lieu of copper coins in workers' wages: see SP 63/384/950]. In fact there has been an overabundance of halfpence, to the extent that they are often used to pay taxes. (Parchment with about 60 original signatures).
