Description

Proceedings of king in Council. The king [George I] heard several addresses from the Irish parliament against the patent granted to William Wood for coining farthings and halfpence for Ireland. Wood requested an enquiry into the affair, claiming he had coined several sums of farthings and halfpence, and had transported £500 to Ireland, but revenue officers in Ireland had refused to receive them. The king ordered a Privy Council committee to conduct the enquiry on 8 July. Dated at Kensington.
