General accounts of the Surveyors General and Commissioners of Woods, etc. (1802 to 1848); general accounts together with the subsidiary accounts of receivers, surveyors, etc. (1848 to 1851); declared accounts (1832 to 1842); and audited abstracts (1842 to 1893).
Accounts down to 1832 appear to have been deposited for convenience and safe custody in the Office of Land Revenue Records and Enrolments, soon after its establishment by statute 2 Will IV, c1 (1832). From 1832 onwards, deposit was a legal requirement, under the same statute, but the terms of deposit were not thought to be altogether clear, and a further statute, 7 & 8 Vict, c89, was intended to clarify the situation. This specified that not only the general, but also the subsidiary, accounts of the land revenues should be deposited in the Office of Land Revenue Records and Enrolments, within three years of audit and declaration. This appears to lie behind the change in format of the surviving records from 1848 onwards.
No details of the land revenue (the Crown Estate) appear until the account for 1811.
The first seven volumes of LRRO 21 were transferred to this series in March 1962.
General accounts for the same period, audited by the auditors or acting auditors of the land revenue are in LR 4
