This series mainly consists of rentals and related documents of crown lands in England and Wales produced for the Auditors of Land Revenue, or the receivers general and ministers responsible to them.
There are similar documents relating to the crown lands held in jointure in the seventeenth century by the queens consort: Anne of Denmark, Henrietta Maria and Catherine of Braganza.
There is also, however, a small amount of similar material relating to the Scottish crown lands, which were managed by the Scottish Exchequer.
The majority of the rentals date from the mid-seventeenth century to the early nineteenth century.
