Folio 21: 12 June 1802; the surgeon on the company's hospital resigned any further charge of the sailors, giving as his reason that he could not supply them with the necessary refreshments, receiving no assistance in the procuring the hospital supplies from those in authority at Amboina.

Folio 22: 16 June 1802; on account of the men being sent from the hospital uncured, I was obliged to apply to the captain for refreshment for them consisting of bread, fish, fruit and vegetables, these articles are scarce and dear here, twenty are supplied at the rate of one shilling per day which commencing on 17 June 1802.

Folio 24: 27 June 1802; the cases of cold caused by excessive moisture from continued rain, they have some peculiarity in them I have not see before the common symptoms are headache, thirst, vomiting at the beginning but on the 2nd or 3rd day a swelling of stomach attended with vomiting and sonetime dysentery. The ulcers patients most of them put on healing appearance which attribute to the [use] of caustic.

Folio 25: 2 July 1802; all sores and ulcers are healing ( except [William] Cable), worms appearing in his ulcers with much inflammation and pain, applied pumkin poultice sweetened with sugar to the part where the worm appears (with and intention to entice it out) and to apply a little piece of lead with sticking plaster on it.

Folios 26-28: John Nicolls, aged 40; taken ill at Amboina, sick or hurt, cold; taken ill on 17 July 1802, discharged 11 August 1802 to duty.

Folio 26: 13 July 1802; the ulcers and sores were much benefits by the refreshments they received at this place [Amboina], which commenced on the 17 June and India on 11 July, ulcers of the most inveterate kind were healed during the time of refreshment aided by constant application of solution of [sil]ver in sp[o]t of nitre.
