William Wesley Pole. You directed us to have repair work at Sheerness done under the superintendence of Brigadier General Bentham. We applied to have the River wall of wood carried on as proposed by Messrs Rennie and Whitby, but the General has said he cannot give the details of requirements for the new line of wall until he has your decision, since quantities and type of material will depend on how far the plans are adopted. Are sending a copy letter from the Sheerness Officers giving details of gale damage on 17/18 December.
