Description (What the record is about)
-
William Wesley Pole. There are anchors in the Roads of Tetuan from the fleet commanded by Lord Keith, having cut cables in a gale and put to sea. As the fleet was afterwards ordered to Egypt, the cables could not be recovered, and subsequently this was prevented by the action of the Moors on the coast. As there were now good relations between the Emperor of Morocco and the Prince Arthur Brig, sailing for Madagascar, ask that the Emperor's assistance is sought to direct the Governor of Tetuan and Tangier to permit HM Naval personnel at Gibraltar to weigh these anchors and place them either in shoal water or land them, and to allow their removal be permitted to any vessels sent to receive them.
