William Wellesley Pole. By Admiralty order of May 1803 Mr. Brunel has been paid an allowance during the erection of his block making apparatus at Portsmouth Yard upon his production of certificates from Brigadier General Bentham. On 7th June 1807 the Officers of Portsmouth Yard advised that the work was entirely finished and the allowances were stopped. Mr. Brunel now claims further payments on account of journeys to Portsmouth connected with the block making establishment. Opine that General Bentham should determine if Brunel's attendance was necessary.
