Copy letter from Anthony Carrow on board the Fly sloop at Sheerness reporting that he obtained a boat from the Master Rigger for the purpose of lightening the Fly to go into the slips. The boat was loaded with iron ballast, shot and Purser's stores and sprung a leak while carrying the stores to a hulk. Although the boat returned to the Fly and was slung at both ends, she tore loose and sank. When the loss was reported to the Master Attendant the Master Rigger stated that the boat was not fit for the purpose..
