Hon. William Wellesley Pole. Propose that in order to economise on the issue of stores and freight expenses, the Admiralty consider issuing orders to Commanders-in-Chief to instruct Captains, on arrival at their respective stations, except Newfoundland, Madeira and Bombay, to return into store all Boatswain's and Carpenter's stores remaining on board which are over and above the 8 month's provision. Also all slops and bedding it is not necessary to retain. If the Admiralty agree, almost all the stores and slops on the enclosed list will be returned to the magazines for the general use of the squadron on the arrival of a 74-gun ship. Smaller ships will return stores in proportion to their rates
