Description (What the record is about)
-
Hon. William Wellesley Pole. The Agent for G. Robinson asks for him to be paid for the time he was Lieutenant of the Hebe armed ship. He is borne on the books as Sub Lieutenant from November 1805 and was superseded by an Admiralty appointment in October 1807. As there was no vacancy for the time he asks to be paid, ask whether he is to be paid as Lieutenant on Admiral Vashon's order or as Sub Lieutenant. An order of November 1806 directed that no more sub Lieutenants were to be appointed and that ships entitled were to bear regular Lieutenants in lieu. Opine that Mr. Robinson has a claim to pay as Lieutenant from the date of the latter order only
