William Wesley Pole. Moorings were provided at Portsmouth for Danish ships of war. They were unaware of the intention to lay up some of the ships at Southampton, where they would need their own anchors and cables and their guns would have to be removed at Spithead. If all the ships are received at Portsmouth, only a small number could be cleared at a time. Propose that the least fit should be cleared first and those in better condition positioned convenient to the yard for fitting out.
