Description

William Marsden. Old copper of every description is to be saved and sent to Portsmouth to be melted down. It should be stored until the machinery for re-manufacturing was ready. We now have 1600 tons of old copper and have purchased more Russian copper to be delivered by the end of the year. The metal mills at Portsmouth are unable to supply all the copper sheets needed. Do not recommend a further accumulation of old copper and suggest it could be issued rather than demand new copper from the contractors. If approval is given we will advertise for tenders for the re-manufacture of old sheet and nails
