Mr. Fawkener, Committee of the Council for Trade and Foreign Plantations from the Navy Board. Copy letter providing information on the contract with Russia for the supply of 1,000 tons of copper and the amount of copper in store. The decision to place a contract with Russia was recommended by the Committee of the Privy Council when the price of copper had risen and was expected to rise higher. Whilst the contract has been pending the price of copper has fallen but the Russian copper is estimated to be cheaper in spite of the claims made by the Cornish owners. Quantity of estimated annual consumption.
