Description

William Marsden. Mr McArthur has requested to be paid as Secretary to Rear Admiral Murray, when he was First Captain of the Fleet under the command of the late Viscount Nelson, from January 1804 to August 1804. Advise that it has not been the practice to pay Secretaries to First Captains of Admirals Commanding in Chief otherwise than as Clerks on the books of the ships in which they serve.
