Evan Nepean. Sending a letter from Mr Jeffery, Clerk of the Cheque at Woolwich dated 22nd March 1798, explaining why a temporary Clerk was needed in his office (not now attached); saying that there is no precedent for the payment of a premium such as was charged by Mr Jeffrey to the son of William Jagoe, Foreman of the Dockyard at Woolwich, who was appointed to the post and is now discharged; and advising that the money should be returned
